Lino Prints Finished

I created 8 prints and four prints were first generation prints with the second generation printed over top. Four prints where the second generation printed over top an interesting texture.

Then I did some practice prints and made some adjustments to my linoleum piece.

I started by drawing my shoe on the piece of linoleum and began to cut away the negative space.

Relief Sketches

My current idea is to draw a bee that is getting nectar from a flower. It is simple and delicate and I think it could turn out well in clay. I am excited to see how I can put the textures into the bee and flower.

Flip flop final product

I added flowers and grasses form my backyard in order for my shoe to represent nature and then drew a background to represent urbanization. It represents how our cities are growing and overtaking wildlife.  We have to work out a way for both worlds to coincide and one way is to be mindful of our carbon footprint. If we have a positive carbon footprint then we can save our wildlife.

Flip flop string addition

Next, I started to weave string throughout the sole in order for it to stand out and look more appealing.

Flip flop sole

I started by creating a firm, solid sole to both resemble the design of the shoe and give a strong structure.
